The Elmhurst Symphony Musicians in Performance at Mayslake series opens its season with “Clarinetissimo” at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016, at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st St. in Oak Brook.  Enjoy the artistry of Elizandro Garcia-Montoya and Stephen Alltop in the beautiful setting of Mayslake as they collaborate in a program of dazzling works for clarinet and piano.  Listeners will enjoy Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata. the Three Preludes of George Gershwin, and delightful Spanish and opera-inspired pieces that will show the clarinet’s full expressive and virtuosic capabilities.

Born in Costa Rica, clarinetist Elizandro Garcia-Montoya has performed with symphony orchestras throughout the United States and in Mexico. An active freelancer in Chicago, he performs with some of the most important music organizations in the area, including the Chicago Philharmonic, the Joffrey Ballet, and several of the region’s best chamber ensembles. Garcia-Montoya is currently principal clarinetist of the New Hampshire Music Festival and the New Millennium Orchestra in Chicago.

An outstanding conductor, harpsichordist and organist, Stephen Alltop is Music Director and Conductor of the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, the Apollo Chorus of Chicago and the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra.  He is on the faculty of the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University.
