Dear ECCI Members,
November is a reminder of how much we can accomplish when we support one another. I see that spirit throughout our Chamber, in the relationships our members build, the partnerships that bring new ideas to life, and the commitment to helping local businesses succeed.
This month, we’re putting that spirit into action with a new community learning initiative, opportunities to give back, and traditions that bring Elmhurst together. Thank you for being part of this work and for all you contribute to our business community.
Introducing Booked for Business
I am excited to introduce Booked for Business, a quarterly book club in partnership with Elmhurst Public Library featuring thoughtfully selected titles that explore leadership, growth, motivation, innovation, and the real-world challenges facing today’s professionals.
The book club is open to Elmhurst’s entire business community, not just Chamber members, and it was designed with busy schedules in mind. There are no regular meetings or formal commitments. Read or listen on your own time, in the format that works best for you.
Our first title will be revealed on November 5! This collaboration supports our mission by making professional growth accessible and strengthening connections throughout our business community. Learn how to participate here.
Welcoming Christina Burns
Congratulations to Christina Burns on being named Elmhurst’s next City Manager! ECCI looks forward to working alongside Christina to support local businesses and help our community continue to thrive.
Welcome to Elmhurst! Read the City’s announcement here.
Honoring Our Veterans
Please join us for Elmhurst’s Annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Wednesday, November 11, at 10:30 a.m., at the Veterans Memorial in Wilder Park. The ceremony is presented jointly by the City of Elmhurst, Elmhurst American Legion THB Post 187, and the Elmhurst Park District.
This day holds special meaning for me, as my dad served as a Navy Seabee in Vietnam. To all who have served, thank you for your service and sacrifice.
43rd Annual Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot
Every Thanksgiving, Elmhurst comes together for the Dan Gibbons Turkey Trot, a beloved community tradition supporting 17 local charities. To date, the Dan Gibbons Foundation has donated nearly $5 million to help feed those in need and strengthen our community.
This year’s race begins at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26. Learn more and register here.
Shop Local on Small Business Saturday
Mark your calendar for Small Business Saturday on November 28! Whether shopping in person or online, choosing local businesses is a meaningful way to support our community.
Elmhurst offers an incredible mix of unique gifts and exceptional services for family and friends. Every local purchase helps support the businesses, jobs, and relationships that keep our community strong. I encourage you to make shopping locally part of your holiday traditions.
Get Involved: Volunteer Board and Committee Secretary
Looking for another way to support Elmhurst’s business community? ECCI is seeking a volunteer Board and Committee Secretary to assist with meeting documentation and support efficient Board and committee operations.
This is an opportunity to contribute your organizational skills, connect with local business and community leaders, and support the Chamber’s mission.
If you have an eye for detail and an interest in getting involved, please complete our interest form here.
As we move into the holiday season, I hope you will take advantage of these opportunities to connect and give back. Thank you for being part of ECCI and for everything you do to support our local business community.
Wishing you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Kind regards,
Jennifer Veremis
