Dear Members:

Starting June 2 and running through September 16, the Explore Elmhurst Express Trolley offers visitors and residents a FREE 30-minute ride connecting downtown Elmhurst, the Spring Road Business District and York & Vallette Business District.

Making seven stops near shops, restaurants and entertainment venues in the three of Elmhurst’s shopping districts, this fun and easy trip runs every Friday and Saturday in June and into mid-September from 12 noon to 12 midnight.

The Explore Elmhurst Express will have a series of special events and activities throughout the summer so follow the Explore Elmhurst Facebook and Instagram for the most up-to-date information.  Riders will also have the opportunity to enter to win weekly prizes every time they ride the trolley.

Trolley Route
Stop 1:  York Street and Park Avenue, downtown Elmhurst
Stop 2:  York and Schiller streets, downtown Elmhurst
Stop 3:  York and Third streets (new stop), downtown Elmhurst
Stop 4:  Second Street and Addison Avenue, downtown Elmhurst
Stop 5:  Cottage Hill Avenue and Virginia Street
Stop 6:  Spring Road and the Illinois Prairie Path, Spring Road District
Stop 7:  York and Vallette streets, York and Vallette District

Umbrella Sky Elmhurst
Downtown Elmhurst’s trio of Umbrella Sky exhibits—Schiller Walkway, north York Street outside the public parking garage and Cottage Hill Avenue near the Elmhurst Art Museum and Elmhurst Public Library—has attracted plenty of visitors and tourists over the past month.

The brainchild of Elmhurst’s Public Arts Commission, the project came to fruition only with the assistance of Elmhurst City Centre, the City and site sponsors Community Bank of Elmhurst (Schiller Walkway), Elmhurst Bank (northYork) and Lakeside Bank (Cottage Hill) and International Contractors, Inc.—all ECCI members.

105th Annual Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade
Elmhurst TV local cable access coverage of the 105th Annual Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade through downtown Elmhurst on May 29 and Post-Parade Military Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Wilder Park will air in June on Comcast Channel 6 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99 on Saturdays at 7 p.m., starting on June 10.

The video also will soon be unloaded to our Chamber website’s video library, with links shared via posts to ECCI’s Facebook and Twitter social media pages.

Active Shooter Preparedness Training
Our Chamber is finalizing plans with the Elmhurst Police Department, Edward-Elmhurst Health and Superior Air-Ground Ambulance to stage an Active Shooter Preparedness Training for businesses at Elmhurst Hospital on Tuesday, June 27, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.  Breakfast food and beverages will be provided.  More to come.

Multi-Chamber Hunger Action Luncheon
With sponsorship support from ECCI member Itasca Bank & Trust, our Chamber is organizing an August 29 Multi-Chamber Hunger Action Luncheon—featuring Keynote Speaker Steve Dolinsky, an American television, radio, print and podcast food and travel reporter, and “The Food Guy” on NBC-TV Channel 5 in Chicago—at The Abbington in Glen Ellyn to promote food pantries across the western suburbs.  More to come.

‘Networking on the 9s’
“Networking on the 9s,” our Chamber’s 75th Annual Golf Outing, will be staged at Sugar Creek Golf Course in Villa Park for Friday, September 22, with a maximum field of 72 golfers teeing off in a shotgun start at 1 p.m.  Members of Villa Park Chamber of Commerce also will participate.  Click HERE to register as a golfer, sponsor and/or luncheon guest.
