The City of Elmhurst continues its involvement in the Conservation Foundation’s, Conservation In Our Community Program to engage citizens to become conservation-conscious through various local projects. This year, residents are encouraged to improve the local environment by installing rain gardens on their properties. The City is offering rebates to residents who take part in this local conservation project.
In addition to the rebates, the City will be sponsoring a workshop to teach stormwater management practices on Tuesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in City Hall. Residents in attendance will learn how to install rain barrels on their property. Rain barrels will be available for pick up at City Hall on Friday, May 13. Elmhurst was selected by the Conservation Foundation as one of the first communities to offer these programs because leaders and residents have demonstrated support for conservation initiatives. Other programs offered to Elmhurst residents through the Conservation Foundation include Conservation@Home and Conservation@Work.
