Dear ECCI Members,
I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather and the start of summer! This time of year is one of my favorites, fresh fruits and vegetables, beautiful flowers, and outdoor gatherings.
June marks the beginning of market season, and we are fortunate to have not one, but two wonderful local markets in our community: the Elmhurst French Market and the Elmhurst Farmers Market. These markets are a great way to support local vendors, discover fresh and unique products, connect with neighbors, and, if you’re anything like me, occasionally enjoy a croissant along the way!
We have a great lineup of events this month, kicking things off with the Elmhurst Cycling Classic! In partnership with the DuPage Cycling Foundation, Chamber members are invited to enjoy a special Weekend After Hours experience at Wilder Mansion during this exciting summer kickoff event complete with thrilling races, great energy, delicious food from Rough Edges Confectionery and Phase Three Brewing, with access to the Phase Three Beer Garden.
If you have never experienced the excitement of professional cycling in downtown Elmhurst, this is the year to do it. The biggest show of the day is always the final race at 6:00 p.m., this is one event you do not want to miss!
May was Small Business Month, and we were honored to welcome Congressman Sean Casten to the Elmhurst community.
We were pleased to showcase the Spring Road Business Association and several ECCI member businesses during his visit. Congressman Casten took time to connect directly with local business owners and hear firsthand about the opportunities and challenges facing small businesses in Elmhurst.
Visits like this reinforce the important role Chambers play in connecting local businesses directly with policymakers, from the local level to Washington, D.C.
The ECCI Governmental Affairs Committee is pleased to host our Legislative Session Recap & Business Roundtable with State Senator Suzy Glowiak Hilton and State Representative Marti Deuter on Wednesday, June 25. As business owners and community leaders, policy decisions at the state and local level impact all of us, from taxes and regulations to workforce and economic development.
This event is an opportunity to hear directly from our legislators and gain insight into the recent legislative session. I strongly encourage members to join us for this important conversation.
As our nation prepares to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we are reminded that small businesses, civic engagement, and strong local communities have always been at the heart of our country’s story. I encourage you to take part in the many community events and celebrations happening around town.
Thank you to everyone who attended and organized the 108th Memorial Day Parade. On behalf of the Chamber, we extend our congratulations to the Grand Marshal of the 108th Memorial Day Parade, decorated veteran and devoted community leader, Bill Shanklin. View the full parade and ceremony recording HERE.
Finally, please save the date for two exciting upcoming events: New Teacher Luncheon on August 5 and our “Networking on the 9s” 78th Annual Chamber Golf Outing! Sponsorship opportunities are now available!
