Dear ECCI Members,
As we enter the season of gratitude, I would like to take a moment to thank all our members, partners and community friends who make the Elmhurst Chamber such a special organization. Your continued support and involvement truly make a difference. Our mission remains clear: promoting an environment that creates success for local businesses and our community.
Support Small Business Saturday on November 29 by shopping locally whether done in person or online. You can find an amazing mix of unique gifts and exceptional services to purchase for family and friends, while contributing to the well-being of your community’s economy.
First observed in 2010, Small Business Saturday has grown into a nationwide movement celebrating the small businesses that are the backbone of our nation’s economy. The day infuses money back into our local economies, promotes vibrant and diverse communities, and celebrates the important role of small businesses in the national economy.
For many communities, sales taxes represent a municipality’s largest source of budget revenue. Home-rule municipalities like Elmhurst benefit even more from local taxes on food and beverage, retail, and motor fuel. Most importantly, $68 of every $100 spent at a local small business stays in the community, compared to just $43 from a big box retailer.
When you shop local, you’re not just buying a gift, you’re supporting jobs, dreams and futures!
I’d love to hear from you. Please email Jenniferv@elmhurstchamber.org and share how Small Business Season has helped your business. Your stories may be featured as social testimonials!
As we move into the holiday season, we have a busy and exciting month ahead. I encourage you to join us at the community events highlighted below and to continue supporting local businesses as you shop and celebrate this season.
Kind regards,
Jennifer Veremis
President and CEO
