As today’s Annual “State of Our City” Mayoral Address Membership Breakfast has been postponed until March 17 (yes, St. Patrick’s Day) due to concerns over the ongoing spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and its related variants, I still want to take this opportunity to share my annual address on the State of Our Chamber with you.
The City of Elmhurst, in partnership with the Center for Governmental Studies at Northern Illinois University, is undertaking strategic planning to identify the long-term vision, including but not limited to goals and resource needs during the next five to 10 years.

On December 20, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed into law a comprehensive gambling bill featuring a Video Gaming Act amendment that will allow qualified nationally-chartered fraternal and veterans organizations to apply for a video gaming license if the proposed establishment meets specified criteria—even if currently prohibited in home-rule communities, as is the case here in Elmhurst.

The Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry Board of Directors elected three officers and approved one appointment for its six-member Executive Committee for 2022 at its regular monthly meeting held in the Hammersmith Community Room at Community Bank of Elmhurst on November 9.
Late on November 5, the United States House of Representatives voted 228 to 206 to pass the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, as approved 60 to 39 by the U.S. Senate back on August 10, which President Joe Biden is expected to sign.
