RUIZ JOINS ELMHURST CHAMBER BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 

            ELMHURST, Ill., June 19, 2012—David Ruiz of Suburban Life Publications (1101 West 31st Street, Suite 100, Downers Grove), publishers of the Elmhurst Press, has been appointed to fill a vacated seat on the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Board of Directors.

His appointment by Chairman of the Board Jennifer Speaker of SMB Advantage Group (188 Industrial Drive, Suite 214) was approved during the Board’s May 8 meeting at the Chamber.

Ruiz, Regional Director of Sales & Marketing at Suburban Life, was sworn into at the Board’s June 12 meeting at the Chamber.

Ruiz will serve out the three-year term of co-worker Bill Korbel, a second-term Director re-elected for 2011-12 who resigned from the Board due to a job promotion.  Korbel, a former Account Executive who served the Elmhurst area, is now a Multi Media Sale Manager.

At Suburban Life, Ruiz is responsible for all auto, local, digital, classified and national advertising sales for 60 websites and 22 local newspapers, including the Elmhurst Press.  He also does sales management of the advertising sales team.

Prior to joining Suburban Life, Ruiz was Vice President at Media Marketing Partners Advertising Agency from 2009-11.

Ruiz served at the Chicago Sun-Times Newspapers for a decade (1999-2009), working his way up from Advertising Director to Senior Advertising Director to Vice President of Advertising

His career began at Pioneer Press Newspapers as an Account Executive (1990-95).  He also was Advertising Sales Manager for CompTIA-Computing Channels Magazine (1995-96) and FMS Magazine Advertising Representation Firm (1996-99).

            Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together to promote the civic and commercial progress of the community.

The Chamber also serves the needs of its members through services, programs and events that provide opportunities for networking and referral, business education, development and promotion, governmental representation and community involvement.
