Last October 30—with the State of Illinois shut down due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic—the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry co-staged the Inaugural Nashville Songwriter Fundraiser netting more than $14,000 to benefit Elmhurst American Legion THB Post 187 and the military veterans whom they serve.

June 11 Marks Restore Illinois Phase 5 Reopening

Following weeks of steady decreases in new positive Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and with more than 67 percent of residents age 18 and older receiving their first vaccine dose, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker on June 4 released Restore Illinois Phase 5 guidelines, which will go into effect on June 11 and marks a full reopening of all businesses and activities.

In conjunction with our Chamber’s May-long solicitation for tax-deductible donations to install an interactive Civic Hall of Fame public memorial as part of the City of Elmhurst’s $25 million Metra Train Station new construction project, ECCI Board of Directors Treasurer Ralph Pechanio has contributed another $10K to the ECCI Centennial Celebration NFP.

Governor Announces Bridge to Phase 5 Starts May 14

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker announced on May 6 that barring any significant reversals in key Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic statewide indicators, Illinois will move into the Bridge Phase with higher capacity limits on Friday, May 14, and return to normal business operations as soon as Friday, June 11.

In memorium of the April passing of ECCI Civic Hall of Famers Thomas O. Myers Jr. (2006) and Jim Van Ewyk (2004), the ECCI Centennial Celebration NFP, an Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-designated 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, has selected the month of May to solicit tax-deductible gifts to fund a Civic HOF Public Memorial as part of the City of Elmhurst’s $25 million project to construct a new Metra Train Station in downtown Elmhurst.

With the Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade cancelled for a second year in a row due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic Restore Illinois Phase 4 restrictions, the City of Elmhurst will re-stage the community-wide Always Remember convoy on Monday, May 31, at 9:30 a.m., followed by an in-person Military Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial in Wilder Park.
