Promoting an environment that creates success for local businesses and our community.
Goals and Objectives
The Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry accomplishes our Mission through the following:
Networking and Referral
We publicize, promote and refer member businesses to our community and to one another through ongoing programs and special events.
We provide community projects and events which showcase member businesses and link them to the community by their involvement.
We represent our member’s concerns and interests before local, state, and federal government by providing information, communication and coordinating action on their behalf.
We provide educational opportunities for our member businesses that challenge and equip them for improvement, growth and greater success.
We provide an example of strong community leadership by demonstrating loyalty, integrity and professionalism in every facet of our organization.
Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry promotes an environment that creates success for local businesses and our community.
Our Chamber serves the needs of some 600 member businesses, not-for-profits and individuals through programs, products, services and events that provide opportunities for networking and business referral, business promotion, business education, governmental affairs and leadership building.
Members promote their goods and services to residents and businesses through a variety of ways:
- A new “responsive” website (elmhurstchamber.org) featuring a member business directory, Hot Deals coupons, job postings, business news, community calendar and more
- Postings to our Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn social media pages
- Every-Door-Direct-Mailed Elmhurst Community Directory and City Street Map
- Hand-delivered New Resident Greeter Totes;
- Professional Speakers Series presentations
- News & Notes columns published in the Elmhurst Suburban Life
Our Chamber has forged strong business partnerships with the City of Elmhurst—especially the Economic Development Commission—and special interest business organizations such as Elmhurst City Centre, Spring Road Business Association and the York & Vallette Business Association as well as the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City’s Explore Elmhurst Advisory Committee to promote the visitor and tourism industry.
Our Chamber and the City have Partnered on shop local campaigns to educate residents on the importance of spending their dollats in town, generating hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional retail sales taxes, allowing the Elmhurst City Council to lower the property tax levy by $500,000 for three consecutive years.
Our Chamber also represents the interests of business on legislative issues at the local, county, state and federal levels. In 2014, our Board of Directors supported both the Hahn Street and Addison Parking Garage public/private redevelopment projects for downtown Elmhurst, both of which opened in late 2016.
A leader in business education, our Chamber partners with fellow chambers, business associations, businesses, not-for-profits and individuals to provide both niche and mass-appeal programs.
Annual special events include the Annual Awards Gala (January), multi-chamber Economic Outlook Luncheon (February), multi-chamber March Luncheon, Spring Luncheon Salute and Business Expo (April), Golf Outing (July), New Teachers Luncheon (August) and Pig Roast (September), while our members host the monthly Membership Breakfasts and Business After Hours.
As a select United State Chamber of Commerce Federated Membership partner, ECCI is recognized in Illinois and nationally as an organization that is committed to excellence in all of its endeavors.
