Candidate Debate
The Kiwanis Club of Elmhurst (P.O. Box 729) and Chamber are co-sponsoring a 6th District U.S. Congressional debate between Republican incumbent Henry Hyde and Democratic challenger Christine Cegelis for Chamber members only at Angelo’s Ristorante (247 North York Street) on Tuesday, October 19, from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m.  The cost is $20.00 per person.  RSVP to the Chamber by Friday, October 15.

Chamber Anniversaries
The following business are celebrating Chamber Anniversaries in October:

The Elmhurst Park District (225 Prospect Avenue) last year raised 60 percent of nearly $16.1 million in revenues from non-tax sources, according to the its 2003 Annual Report.

The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra is among 42 not-for-profit organizations in DuPage County awarded a grant from The DuPage Community Foundation’s General and Environmental Grant Programs.

The Elmhurst Community Effort will hold its Celebration Breakfast for 2004 Red Ribbon/
Character Counts Week to promote a healthy drug-free community at Jefferson Elementary School (304 East Crescent Avenue) on Wednesday, October 20, from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.

The Elmhurst Art Museum (150 Cottage Hill Avenue) will host The Art of Zhou Gala Benefit at the Drury Lane Oak Brook on Friday, October 22, starting at 6:00 p.m., in celebration of “Zhou Brothers:  30 Years of Collaboration,” an exhibition by brothers Shan Zhou and Da Hang Zhou which opened October 9.  Ticket cost is $150.00 per person and reservations are limited.  For more info, call April Arnold at 834-0202, ext. 13.
