ELMHURST CHAMBER ELECTS NEW DIRECTORS
ELMHURST, Ill., November 7, 2001 – Seven members of the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry were elected in October to serve three-year terms on the organization’s Board of Directors.
The new Directors will be installed during the Board’s 7:30 a.m. meeting at Community Bank of Elmhurst, 330 West Butterfield Road, next Tuesday (November 13).
The 24-member Board is comprised of 21 elected Directors serving three-year terms and three ex-officio Directors.
Newly elected Directors are (in alphabetical order):
Dick Chase, CEO of Chase Root Beer Corp. (867 North Addison Avenue) and President of the Illinois Festival Association;
Karol Nelson Collins, Vice President and General Manager at Lynn Marketing Group, Inc. (757 North Larch Avenue);
Paul DeMichele, Owner of DeMichele Builders (17W275 Rodeck Lane, Bensenville);
Jim Friel, Director of Financial Industry Practice at Chicago Systems Group, Acting Chief Information Officer for the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County and Co-Owner of Fitz’s Pub (172 Addison Avenue) with several relatives;
Adam Hudelson, Regional President of Firstar Bank (536 South York Street);
Rich Rosenberg, President and CEO of Phototek Corp. (533 Spring Road), Elmhurst Camera (535 Spring Road) and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream (539 Spring Road); and
Tom Zalabak, Vice President of Advertising for Liberty Suburban Chicago Newspapers (709 Enterprise Drive, Oak Brook).
Following is a brief biography for each of the Directors:
Dick Chase
Dick Chase, a former Chamber Director, also serves on the Downers Grove Marketing Committee and Naperville Downtown Business Alliance. For more than 22 years, he has assisted festival organizations throughout the Midwest as a lecturer and advisor.
Chase is the Founder of Elmhurst Little League, serving as its President for five years, and was a member of the York High School Athletic Booster’s Board of Directors.
Karol Nelson Collins
Karol Nelson Collins, who will begin her second term as a Chamber Director, and her husband, Todd Collins, founded Lynn Marketing Group, Inc., in 1985. A three-year member of the Chamber’s Marketing Committee, she helped to organize and sponsor the Chamber’s “Where Will You Go?” Vacation Raffle in 2000.
Collins is a fifth-year member of the West Suburban Medical Center’s Board of Directors and a committee member for the National Trade Association’s Mailing and Fulfillment Service Association. She also is a supporter of the Rotary Club of Elmhurst and other community organizations.
Paul DeMichele
Paul DeMichele, who will begin his second term as a Chamber Director, has served as a longtime member of the Chamber’s Drug-Free Workplace Program Committee, the Chamber’s liaison to the Elmhurst Community Effort’s Red Ribbon Week and consultant on the Chamber’s office relocation.
In addition to serving as an Addison Township Trustee for five years, DeMichele is a former member of the Elmhurst Public Schools District 205 Board of Directors and Past President of the PTAs at York Community High, Churchville Middle School and Conrad Fisher Elementary School.
James Friel
Jim Friel is a member of the Elmhurst City Centre’s Board of Directors, serving as the organization’s President for 2001-02. He is the Past President of the Elmhurst YMCA Tsunami Swim Club, and an AYSO soccer coach and referee.
Friel also is the Founder and Chairman of the Friel Memorial Golf Outing to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Cancer Hospital. His business background includes 13 years at Logica, Inc., and four years at Sears Mortgage Corporation.
Adam Hudelson
Adam Hudelson, who will begin his second term as a Chamber Director, is a three-year member of the Chamber Board’s Executive Committee, serving as 1st Vice Chairperson and chairing the Marketing Committee in 2000-01. He served as 2nd Vice Chairperson and chaired the Membership Committee in 1999-2000—when the Chamber developed and successfully instituted targeted membership campaigns—and as Treasurer in 1998-99.
Hudelson also is a member of the York/Vallette Business Association and Kiwanis Club of Elmhurst.
Richard Rosenberg
Rich Rosenberg, who will begin his second term as a Chamber Director, is a first-year member of the Chamber Board’s Executive Committee, serving both as Treasurer and Chairperson of the Ways and Means Committee in 2000-01. He has been an active member of the Governmental Affairs Committee and a presenter at the Chamber’s Leadership Elmhurst education workshop.
Rosenberg also serves on the Finance Committee of the Elmhurst Art Museum and is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Elmhurst.
His businesses are members of the Spring Road Business Association.
Tom Zalabak
Tom Zalabak, who was appointed to the Chamber Board in September to complete the term of retiring co-worker Lynn Hill, is a first-year member of the Chamber’s Marketing Committee.
Zalabak also represents the Elmhurst Press with the Spring Road Business Association.
His career in newspaper advertising sales spans nearly 30 years.
Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together to promote the civic and commercial progress of the community.
The Chamber also serves the needs of its members through services, programs and events that provide opportunities for networking and referral, business education, development and promotion, governmental representation and community involvement.
