Gone, But Not Forgotten
We are sadden by the recent deaths of the following members of the Chamber’s family:

Carl Keller Sr., 89, a 50-year Elmhurst resident, Founding Partner in Diemasters and Founder of C. Keller Manufacturing Co. who was among the father-son tandems (with Carl Jr.) to serve as Chairman (then President) of the Chamber’s Board of Directors;

Terry Nordensten, 54, President of Villa Park Trust & Savings Bank (10 South Villa Avenue, Villa Park); and

Bob Doorneweerd, 52, Partner in Elmhurst-based Sukowicz Doorneweerd CPA & Co. and member of the Kiwanis Club of Elmhurst (P.O. Box 729).

Annual Mayoral Address
Elmhurst Mayor Thomas D. Marcucci will deliver his Annual “State of the City” Mayoral Address at the Chamber’s January Membership Breakfast hosted by Community Bank of Elmhurst (330 West Butterfield Road) on Thursday, January 18, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.  Seating is limited to 150 and reservations are required.

Business After Hours
Kalamata Greek Cuisine (116 Schiller Street) and Merle Norman Cosmetics (251 North York Street) will co-host the Chamber Business After Hours at Kalamata on Wednesday, January 12, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Multi-Chamber Business Luncheon
Noted economic expert Carl Tannenbaum, Chief Economist at LaSalle Bank, will be the Keynote Speaker for a Business Luncheon co-sponsored by Elmhurst and six other area chambers at the Ashton Place, 341 75th Street, Willowbrook, on Friday, February 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  His topic is titled, “Balancing Our Books.”  Registration and networking begins at 11:30 a.m., with the London broil lunch service starting at 11:55 noon.  The cost is $25.00 per person for members of the sponsoring chambers.  Non-member cost is $30.00 per person.  RSVP by Friday, February 4.

Newsmakers
David DeGroot, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Elmhurst-based Suburban Bank & Trust Company, was installed as President of the Illinois Bankers Association’s Chicago Area Chapter at the organization’s annual Holiday Breakfast on December 9.  A Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years in the banking industry, DeGroot served one-year terms as chapter Treasurer and then Vice President prior to his Presidential election.

Special Events
The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, with support from the Kiwanis Club of Elmhurst (P.O. Box 729). The Elmhurst Unit of the Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Guild is hosting a buffet luncheon, “A Faire To Remember For All Ages,” in the New Crystal Room, Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace, on Saturday, January 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  The cost is $25.00 per person.  Proceeds benefit Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare’s new mammotome equipment benefiting women’s health services and families.  For more info, call Event Chair Patsy Hucksold at 832-0138.

Boy Scout Troop 77 and Cub Scout Pack 25 at Immaculate Conception Church (134 Arthur) will hold their annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser on Sunday, January 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
