Community Calendar
The 2002 Elmhurst Community Calendar, titled “Elmhurst celebrates the spirit of volunteering!,” was mailed to homes and businesses this month, and extra copies are available in the Chamber office. The calendar is a cooperative project involving the Chamber and fellow Elmhurst Business Alliance members City of Elmhurst, Elmhurst Economic Development Corporation and Elmhurst City Centre.
Community Directory
The Chamber will begin work next month on the 2002 Elmhurst Community Directory, which will be printed by Liberty Suburban Chicago Newspapers (709Enterprise Drive, Oak Brook) for Spring distribution.

Newsmakers
The Employment Law Council of Illinois, a statewide organization of employers dedicated to improving Illinois employment law statutes and regulations, is merging with the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, effective January 1, 2002. The Council will become a forum within the Chamber concentrating of employment and human resource issues and legislative initiatives.
Elmhurst College (190 Prospect Avenue), which recently announced its $40 million “Vision In Action Campaign,” has hired 1999 alumna and former Elmhurst resident Wendy Shure as Director of the Annual Fund.
Special Events
WinterFest! returns to The Morton Arboretum (4100 Illinois Route 53, Lisle) over the weekend of January 19 and 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with outdoor events ranging from snowshoes to ice sculptures and from dog sleds to the Ice Age Adventure fantasy trail. “State of the City” Mayoral Address
Elmhurst Mayor Thomas D. Marcucci will deliver the annual “State of the City” Mayoral Address to a sold out crowd of 150 at the Chamber’s Membership Breakfast hosted by Community Bank of Elmhurst, 330 West Butterfield Road, on Wednesday, January 16, from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. Sponsored jointly by the Chamber, Elmhurst Economic Development Corporation (209 North York Street) and Community Bank, the program will be taped by Elmhurst Our Kind of Town for broadcast on Channel 6 of AT&T Broadband (688 Industrial Drive).

Village Profile is completing work on the Chamber-sponsored 2002 Elmhurst Street Map, which is scheduled for delivery in a month or two.
