Henry Hyde has been a member of both the U.S. House of Representatives and House Judiciary Committee (Chair, 1995-2001) since 1975, and has served on the International Relations Committee since 1982. From 1985 to 1991, he was the ranking Republican on the House Select Committee on Intelligence.
Prior to Congress, Hyde served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1966 to 1974, rising to the post of majority leader.
