York Furrier (107 North York Street) is now serving the 3,000-plus clients of the now defunct Javurek Furs in Berwyn and Javurek’s Richard Berman has joined York Furrier’s staff. Berman’s grandparents, Edward and Mildred, open Javurek Furs in 1929 and his parents, Erwin “Larry” and Sally, inherited the family business in 1974.

Chamber intern Jillian Guthrie and former Chamber intern Rosanna De Astis are serving as Treasurer and President, respectively, of the Omicron Tau Chapter of the Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society at Elmhurst College. Chamber President John Quigley, a 1977 EC graduate, delivered the Keynote Address at the Chapter’s Induction Ceremony on April 8.
The United States Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform’s annual State Liability Systems Ranking Study ranked Illinois 44th worst out of 50 states in legal fairness, better than only Texas, California, Louisiana, Alabama, West Virginia and lastly Mississippi.
