ELMHURST CHAMBER HONORS ADVERTISING
EXPERT AS AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR
ELMHURST, Ill., November 29, 2004 — Local businesswoman Gloria Cassata was recognized as Ambassador of the Year for 2004 at the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Annual Meeting/Silent Auction held at the Waterford Banquet Room at the Holiday Inn Express last Tuesday (November 23).
The award is presented annually to a member of the Chamber Ambassadors for his/her outstanding service.
Cassata, Account Executive in Display Advertising at The Elmhurst Independent (533 South York Street, Unit E), has been an Ambassador since 2001.
“Gloria exemplifies what it means to be a Chamber Ambassador,” said Chamber President John Quigley. “Her attendance at new member ribbon-cuttings and other Chamber events is near perfect, and she faithfully wears her green jacket with pride.”
Cassata joined The Independent shortly after the newspaper’s debut in 2001after working in display advertising for the Elmhurst Press/Liberty Suburban Chicago Newspapers for six years.
Cassata also has served on the Spring Road Business Association for nine years.
A former Elmhurst resident, Cassata now resides in Rockford.
The green-coated Ambassadors represent the Chamber at numerous member business functions, including ribbon cuttings, grand openings, anniversaries and other celebrations and special events. The group is comprised mostly of current and former members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
The award was presented by the outgoing Past Chairman of the Chamber’s Board, Cathy Bajkowski, Financial Professional with The MONY Group (700 Commerce Drive, Suite 430, Oak Brook), and Chamber President John Quigley.
Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic and commercial progress of the community.
The Chamber also serves the needs of its members through services, programs and events that provide opportunities for networking and referral, business education, development and promotion, governmental representation and community involvement.
