ELMHURST CHAMBER INVITES MEMBERS
TO ANNUAL MEETING/SILENT AUCTION

ELMHURST, Ill., November 7, 2001 — The Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry will hold it 2001 Annual Meeting/Silent Auction at the Elmhurst American Legion THB Post 187, 310 West Butterfield Road, on Monday, November 26, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.  The 30-minute Annual Meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the “Taste of Elmhurst” and Silent Auction at 7:00 p.m.

Free to Chamber members and their families, friends, employees and clients, the event will feature mouth-watering food compliments of Elmhurst’s finest restaurants, socially stimulating conversation and hotly contested auction bidding.

During the Annual Meeting, the Chamber will salute the A.J. “Toche” Terrones Business of the Year for 2001, welcome the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, Officers and Directors, recognize the outgoing Chairman, Officers and Directors, and honor the Chairman’s Award winner and Ambassador of the Year.

The “Taste of Elmhurst” will feature a variety of food compliments of the following Elmhurst restaurants:  Barbeque Jim’s Smokehouse (pulled pork sandwiches), Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream (assorted ice creams), Crossroads Tavern & Eatery (ribs and wings), Fitz’s Pub (hot hors d’oeuvres), Jewel-Osco (assorted party trays), Las Bellas Artes (seafood lasagna), Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria (deep dish pizzas), McNally’s Irish Pub (corned beef sandwiches), Pastries Plus Bakery (assorted pastries), Red Dragon Chinese Restaurant (sesame chicken) and The Silverado Grill (steak and chicken shish-ka-bobs).

Ranging in value of less than $100.00 (Tier I) to more than $500.00 (Tier III), auction items include use of vacation condos/townhouses, sailboat dinner cruise, golf outings and equipment, movie theatre passes, and hotel and restaurant gift certificates.

Previous winners of the Business of the Year honorees were Unique Travel Service, Ltd. (2000) and Community Bank of Elmhurst (1999).

Virginia “Ginny” Harmon, President and Owner of Unique Travel, will present the 2001 recipient with a traveling trophy of imported 24% German lead crystal atop a mahogany wood base.  A permanent plaque is also on display in the Chamber office.

Named in memory of Toche Terrones, who served as Chamber President (formerly Executive Director) for nearly a decade until his death in July of 1999, the award is given to the member business that has best served the Elmhurst Chamber and the community.

The outgoing Chairman is Rich Reichert of Community Bank of Elmhurst.

Joining Reichert on the Executive Committee were 1st Vice Chairman Adam Hudelson of Firstar Bank, 2nd Vice Chairman Cathy Bajkowski of The MONY Group, Treasurer Rich Rosenberg of Phototek Corp., Elmhurst Camera and Ben & Jerry’s, and Past Chairman Frank Catalano Jr. of Flagstar Bank.

Outgoing Directors are Laurie Burny of First Union Securities, Inc., Lynn Hill of Liberty Suburban Chicago Newspapers and Jim Provinzino of Farmers Insurance Group, along with Catalano.

Newly elected as Directors are Hudelson, Rosenberg, Karol Nelson Collins of Lynn Marketing Group, Paul DeMichele of DeMichele Builders, Tom Zalabak of Liberty Newspapers, Dick Chase of Chase Root Beer and Jim Friel of Fitz’s Pub.

Established in 1918, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women who have joined together to promote the civic and commercial progress of the community.

The Chamber also serves the needs of its members through services, programs and events that provide opportunities for networking and referral, business education, development and promotion, governmental representation and community involvement.
