Business After Hours
Cardinal Cartridge (862 Industrial Drive) and Jem’s Culinary Services (P.O. Box 924, Lombard) will co-host the Chamber’s Business After Hours on Wednesday, July 28, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Chamber Anniversaries
The following three businesses celebrated Chamber anniversaries in June:

10 Years—James E. Williams Jr., CPA (168 East Lake Street) and US Bank (513 Spring Road); and

5 Years—Sunrise Assisted Living of Glen Ellyn (95 Carleton Avenue, Glen Ellyn).

Chamber Golf Outing
“Tee Off for Toche,” the Chamber’s 56th Annual Golf Outing, will be held at River Forest Country Club (15W468 Grand Avenue) on Monday, July 26, starting at 11:00 a.m. with registration and luncheon.  Golfers tee off at 12:30 p.m., with dinner service at 6:30 p.m.  The cost for golf with cart, lunch and dinner is $200 per person.  Dinner only is $50.  Numerous marketing opportunities are available.  Call 834-6060 for more info.

Fourth of July Parade
The Elmhurst Jaycees (P.O. Box 235) are sponsoring Elmhurst’s Fourth of July Parade through downtown Elmhurst on Monday, July 5, at 12:00 noon.  For more info, call Joe Skibbie at Community Bank of Elmhurst at 782-1234.  Following the parade, the Elmhurst Historical Museum (120 East Park Avenue) will host its annual Ice Cream Social.

Illinois Bad for Business?
The State of Illinois ranks among the bottom 50 states for business climate created by state government, while neighboring states Missouri, Iowa and Indiana rank high and at the top, according to Forbes magazine, the Illinois Chamber reported.

Membership Breakfast
The Elmhurst Park District (225 Prospect Avenue) will host the Chamber’s Membership Breakfast at The Hub at Berens Park (493 Oaklawn) on Thursday, July 8, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.

Newsmakers
For the sixth consecutive year, SBC (225 West Wesley, Weaton) has been named the top telecommunications company in FORTUNE magazine’s annual Top 50 list of “Best Companies for Minorities,” ranking 12th.

Bob Schiller, President of Schiller Real Estate (540 South York Street), received the 2004 Leadership Award at the Association for Retarded Citizens (ACR) of Illinois Annual Conference for his volunteer contributions to the Ray Graham Association for People with Disabilities (1155 North Main Street, Lombard).
