The Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s Governmental Affairs Committee is sharing the following information in support of the 2020 United States Census here in Elmhurst and across the State of Illinois:

A statewide Day of Action organized by the ILCountMeIn2020 coalition, Census At Work Day is an opportunity for Illinois employers to show their commitment to a fair and accurate count in the 2020 Census.  By setting aside just 30 minutes on Thursday, September 10, for their employees (or volunteers) to complete the census at work, Elmhurst businesses can help to ensure our community has access to federal funding for infrastructure, education, health care and more.

As of September 1, only 69. percent of Illinois households had completed the census, as compared to 83.3 percent here in Elmhurst.  Millions of dollars are at stake both locally and statewideif we don’t act fast. With the new deadline of September 30 fast approaching, millions of dollars in federal funding in local and state support could be lost.

Elmhurst businesses can participate using the linked email template, which includes instructions for how employers can participate, as well as links to additional resources, including a customizable e-mail template to employees.
