The Theatre Historical Society of America (founded 1969) is the foremost organization for cataloging and achiving the unique history of theatre architecture in America, while encouraging and insuring the acquisition, maintenance, presevation and publication of historical documents, photographs, artifacts and other related information.
Through programs that include the collections in The American Theatre Architectire Archive, theatre tours, cooperative museum exhibits, publications, lectures, awards and research fellowships, the Society seeks to promote appreciation, scholarly study and use of these historically-significant buildings.
The restored second floor at the York Theatre building in downtown Elmhurst serves as the home of the Society's national headquarters and The American Theatre Architectural Archives.
