Nationally, Elmhurst ranks 120th out of 705 schools that “deliver the most value”

ELMHURST, Ill., July 14, 2016—On Money magazine’s latest list of Best Colleges, Elmhurst College ranks sixth among all colleges and universities in Illinois, and 120th on a list of more than 700 top institutions nationwide.

Published on July 11 by Time Inc., Money’s rankings focus on public and private colleges and universities that “deliver the most value—that is, a great education, at an affordable price, that helps students launch promising careers.”

To calculate its rankings, Money started with roughly 2,000 four-year U.S. colleges and universities, and then screened out schools with graduation rates below the median, financial difficulties, or fewer than 500 undergraduates. The remaining 705 colleges were ranked on 24 factors in three categories: educational quality, affordability, and alumni success, or outcomes. Money also measured comparative value, by assessing how well students at each school did compared with what would be expected for students with similar economic and academic backgrounds, and the college’s mix of majors.

Elmhurst College also ranks as one of Money’s “50 Best Colleges You Can Actually Get Into,” a list that considers accessibility in relation to high-quality academics.

“Elmhurst College’s high placement in the Money magazine rankings is great news, and just reinforces what we already know about why the College is exceptional, said President Troy VanAken. “Our faculty and academic programs, a wealth of career exploration and engagement opportunities, and our beautiful campus and unbeatable location make Elmhurst an outstanding value for our students.”

Elmhurst College is a leading four-year college that seamlessly blends liberal learning and professional preparation to educate students for life in a global society and help them to reach their potential.
