The choir gives two major performances each year, in April and December.  ECU occasionally appears in Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra concerts and elsewhere in Elmhurst.

Elmhurst Choral Union was founded in 1952 as a student-faculty ensemble at Elmhurst College.  In 1961, it merged with an Elmhurst Park District choir, and membership was opened to singers throughout the area.  ECU incorporated as a non-profit in 2001, and produces its own concerts.
