Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 was formed in 1974 to provide a unified school program for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12.
The District’s 13 schools—eight elementary schools (K-5), three middle schools (6-8), York Community High School (9-12) and an early childhood center—currently services more than 7,800 students who reside primarily in Elmhurst (93 percent), plus small portions of Oak Brook, Bensenville, and Addison.
District 205 faculty and staff represent some of the finest and best qualified teachers in the State of Illinois, with an average of 10.9 years of teaching experience.
District 205 students consistently perform well above state averages on all standardized tests; the ACT average composite score is 23.1 (2009).
More than 94% of York’s students participate in at least one extra curricular activity, with distinguished students/teams in cross country, law, business, vocational skills, mathematics, theater performance, art, music and more.
A before and after-school care program for children in grades 1-5 is offered by the Elmhurst Park District at all of the elementary school buildings.
